How to Browse Zapier Apps by Name: Finding Apps in the Zap Editor and App Directory
With over 10,000 apps in the Zapier ecosystem, finding the right integration is mostly a search problem. Zapier provides two primary places to search by name — the Zap editor and the public app directory — and each has different strengths. Knowing where to look and what naming quirks to expect saves time when building Zaps or auditing whether an app you use has a Zapier integration.
Searching in the Zap Editor
When you add a trigger or action step inside the Zap editor, the app search field is the fastest way to find a specific app by name. Type the app name and Zapier searches across all 10,000+ integrations in real time. A few important behaviors to know:
- Partial name matching: You do not need to type the full app name. Typing "Hub" will surface HubSpot, HubSpot CRM, and any other apps with "Hub" in the name.
- Results are ranked by popularity: When multiple apps match your search term, the most-used integration among Zapier users appears first. If you see an app you recognize lower in the list, it is typically less commonly connected — which may be a signal about the quality of that specific connector.
- Zapier-native tools appear separately: Native Zapier tools (Formatter, Filter, Webhooks, Code, etc.) are listed as apps and appear in search results when relevant. See the full guide to Zapier built-in tools for a reference of everything available.
- Your connected apps appear first: Apps you have already connected a Zapier account to are surfaced at the top of results under "My Apps," making it easy to reuse existing connections.
Browsing the Public App Directory
The Zapier app directory at zapier.com/apps is the most complete view of the entire Zapier app ecosystem. Unlike the in-editor search (which is scoped to your active Zap), the directory is a browsable reference you can use at any time — before building a Zap, when evaluating whether an app is supported, or when exploring what integrations exist within a category. The directory supports:
- Name search: A search bar at the top filters the app list as you type
- Category browsing: Apps are organized into categories (CRM, Marketing, Productivity, Developer Tools, etc.) — useful when you know what type of app you need but not the specific name
- Popularity sort: Default sorting by number of users gives a useful quality signal
- App detail pages: Each app in the directory has its own page listing all available triggers and actions — see how to view all triggers and actions for a Zapier app for how to use this effectively
When an App Is Hard to Find by Name
Several naming patterns can make apps harder to find than expected:
- Rebranded apps: If a company renamed their product, the Zapier integration may still be listed under the old name. Search both the old and new name — the community profile URL may preserve the old branding even after the display name updates.
- Parent company vs. product name: Some apps are listed under the parent company name (e.g., "Twilio" rather than a specific Twilio product). Others are listed under the product name even though the company name is better known.
- Multiple separate integrations: Some companies have more than one Zapier integration — separate connectors for different products. Salesforce and HubSpot both have multiple Zapier apps covering different products or API versions. Searching returns all of them.
- Abbreviated vs. full name: Try the abbreviation if the full name returns no results ("MS Teams" vs. "Microsoft Teams"), and vice versa.
If no native connector exists after a thorough search, the path forward is the Webhooks by Zapier or API by Zapier action for any app with a REST API. See Zapier missing trigger or action workarounds for the full approach. For an in-depth look at how to explore and evaluate the Zapier app ecosystem, see the Zapier app directory guide.
Before assuming an app is not on Zapier, try at least three name variations in the editor search: the exact product name, the company name, and any common abbreviation. Apps are listed by how the developer registered them, which does not always match what users call the product.
